Jim Masters's musical career began at an early age. Music in Jim's home was mainly bluegrass and country. Playing mostly at the family gatherings and an occasional garage bands, he developed a broad range of musical interests. Jim has always been drawn to music, especially the guitar. He enjoys all genres of music, Country, Bluegrass, Rock & Roll, Americana, R&B, Folk and Blues.
Jim's been on this musical journey for a while now and guesses he's a product of all he has experienced thus far in life. Therefore, his music is a culmination of those wonderful sounds he's listened to all those years.
Jim's been influenced by many of his music heroes: The Beatles, The Eagles, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, CSN, John Prine, John Hyatt, Jim Croce, Tim O’brien, Darrel Scott, Lester Flat, Earle Scruggs, Bill Monroe. The list is endless!!
Jim has been extremely fortunate to have performed with several local bands through the years where he had a great time making music with some very talented musicians. They covered Pop, Rock, Folk, Americana and Blues.
Jim write songs, play guitar, mandolin, bass, and sings. As a singer/songwriter, his music leans towards Americana/Folk/Blues/Bluegrass and Rock; not necessarily in that order.
Jim's approach to writing a song is simple, "Write about Life".
