Duncan & Danielle come from very different backgrounds, musically speaking, but because of their love of really good music individually, they reached a musical common ground where their music continues to evolve and grow. They both affect people’s lives in a positive way through music; through the teaching, the performing, the writing, the recording of the music, and through meeting people and sharing the life in music and the music in life.
The Duncan & Danielle Band consists of Duncan Wood, Danielle Gerard and their backup band all based out of the Hampton Roads area in Virginia.
Their exciting acoustic folk-rock style with some electric blues thrown in features tight vocal harmonies, acoustic-electric guitar work by Duncan and extraordinary flute playing by Danielle.
Their music has brought rave reviews from audiences of all ages. They have played a wide variety of venues because of their ability to play many different styles of music. They perform as a duo, trio, or four to five piece band, dependent on the needs of a particular performance.
Songs from their CDs, “In the Flame” and “It All Starts Here” have been played on various radio stations around the country. They have been guest performers on radio stations and the television show, Good Morning, Virginia, and have also been featured on a 30 minute TV special called All About the Arts.
The Band has been the pre-opening act at the Virginia Beach GTE Amphitheater for Jethro Tull, Shania Twain, Chicago, The Doobie Brothers, Rod Stewart and Peter, Paul & Mary. ·....their music has been pegged as “music for the world”.
Duncan Wood is a singer-songwriter and outstanding guitarist who plays a number of styles with equal abandon. His first band to make it onto the radio stations across the country was Cutts Road, reaching #3 on the heavy-play charts in New England. His last band, GreenWood, made it to the final 11 out of 300 bands picked nation-wide for the television show, Star Search. Since getting his BS degree in Psychology in 1988, Duncan has been teaching private music lessons, performing, published his book pioneering new methods for learning guitar and music. He is currently teaching, writing, and recording at DnD Music Learning Center in Chesapeake, Virginia.
Danielle Gerard (Louisa Danielle Gerard) grew up, in the world of New York theater, the child of parents who were active on Broadway and television. She inevitably explored dance, acting and music. She began playing the piano, then, when the family moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, she took up the flute in school, became involved with marching band, and the role of drum major for her high school. This eventually led to her being awarded a music scholarship to college and becoming a show-stopping flutist. Danielle currently teaches beginner piano, voice and flute at DnD Music Learning Center in Chesapeake, Virginia. Audiences today are equally enthusiastic about her lovely, yet powerful, singing voice and her creativity in music and word. Danielle’s rare talent is truly a delight for all to share.
